It joins Sigma’s F1.4 DC Contemporary series and provides a focal length equivalent to approximately 22.5mm in full-frame terms, offering a wide yet quite natural perspective suited to everyday photography and video content creation.

Positioned within Sigma’s Contemporary lens range, it balances excellent optical performance with lightweight portability. At 225g, it’s very compact and significantly lighter than the earlier 16mm f/1.4 DC DN, making it easier to carry for travel, street photography, gimbal recording and vlogging.

With a bright f/1.4 aperture, stepping motor autofocus and a compact mechanical design, this wide-angle lens suits beginners upgrading from kit lenses as well as intermediate creators looking for improved low-light performance and great image quality.

Optical Design and Wide-Angle Perspective

The lens uses an 11-element, 13-group construction incorporating one FLD element, three SLD elements and three aspherical elements. This configuration maintains strong edge consistency and reduces aberrations that are commonly visible in wide-angle lenses.

On Fujifilm X cameras, the 15mm focal length provides an angle of view of approximately 86.9°, offering a broad field suitable for landscapes, architecture, interiors and environmental portraits.

Control of sagittal coma flare has been prioritised, which is important when photographing night skies or scenes with point light sources. Sharpness remains consistent across the frame, even when shooting at the maximum aperture of f/1.4.
