Combining the most compact and lightweight full-frame Canon mirrorless camera with a newly developed zoom, the Canon EOS R8 with RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens Kit is an effective kit for hybrid content creators. The ultra-wide to standard zoom is a versatile lens for all sorts of content and features Canon’s fast STM technology, along with optical image stabilisation to help keep photos sharp and videos smooth.

Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS II AF in the R8 complements the lens stepping motor, ensuring you can capture a broad range of subjects effectively, tracking them even as they move about the frame. In electronic shutter mode the R8 reaches blistering speeds of up to 40fps, while RAW mode pre-shoots and captures 30fps, helping you get the shot, no matter how fast the subject is moving.

Video can be recorded without a 30 minute clip limit, in beautiful oversampled 4K/60p and as fast as 180fps Full HD for slow motion playback. A new photo / video switch on the body, high refresh rate EVF and large 3-inch LCD confirms that this is an excellent camera and lens kit for hybrid creators joining Canon’s mirrorless system.

Shoot your best work yet with a 24.2 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor that balances detail, speed and low-light performance. The larger sensor also captures more detail in the brightest and darkest parts of a scene, making this a great landscape photography camera. When light levels drop, the EOS R8 carries on delivering superb photos and video. Its large full-frame sensor means less digital noise, so the camera can shoot at up to ISO 102,400 (extendable to ISO 204,800). Its Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing is sensitive to -6.5EV – that’s about the same as the light of a half-moon.

Weighing just 461g, the EOS R8 is our lightest full-frame mirrorless camera yet, so you can take it to more places, more often. Your constant creative companion is great for shooting events on location. A dedicated switch lets you swap between photo and video modes, retaining settings in each one. When you’re shooting moving objects, the EOS R8 can shoot continuously at an incredible 40 fps using its electronic shutter. A 30 fps Raw burst mode can even capture frames up to 0.5 sec before you press the shutter release, so you won’t miss a thing.

The RF 24-50MM F4.5-6.3 IS STM is a highly portable standard lens that’s a joy to use, offering 4.5-stops of image stabilisation and fast, near-silent AF thanks to its STM focusing motor. It covers a wide-to-standard 2x zoom range – making the EOS R8 an excellent camera for landscape photography, travel and reportage. This ergonomic lens is compact when stowed, but feels natural and instinctive when you are shooting.
