With its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture and 11-bladed diaphragm, working in low-light conditions isn't an issue, nor is producing dreamy, complementary bokeh around your subjects. This hybrid lens design incorporates a video-friendly Voice Coil Motor (VCM) rear focus system with a Nano USM (Ultrasonic Motor) for precise autofocus and near-silent lens operation. Its dedicated manual iris ring and AF/MF switch offer users heightened focus control and allow for swift settings adjustments. Belonging to the L-series, this prime lens promises excellent durability and features a weather-resistant design that protects against dust and moisture.

Iris ring is inactive for controlling aperture in still photo shooting when using the lens with EOS R system cameras released before May 2024.

• For cameras with an APS-C sized sensor, a crop factor applies giving an equivalent focal length of 1.6x – this means that the 50mm on an APS-C camera will give the field of view equivalent to a 80mm lens on a Full Frame camera. Check camera user manual for further details.
