The 35mm XF F1.4 lens offers precise depth-of-field control and excellent bokeh with a beautifully blurred background thanks to its molded diaphragm aperture blade design. The blades are curved to create a circular image at all aperture settings, while the edges of each blade are meticulously rounded rather than simply cut, resulting in a sharper image.
Furthermore, the feeling of solidity provided by the high-quality metal drum and the precise exposure adjustment in 1/3-step increments using the aperture ring fuel the desire to capture more photos with each shot.
The X mount has an edge-to-edge distance of just 17.7 mm, as it was specifically designed to take full advantage of the mirrorless design of the camera body. This means that the rear lens elements are as close to the sensor as possible. The wide aperture allows the lens to be mounted deeper into the camera body (approximately 7.5 mm from the mount surface), reducing the back focus distance of each lens to the absolute minimum and enabling high resolution right to the edges of the image.
