Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S Lens
The 24-70mm zoom range is a great option for filmmakers, as it provides the flexibility to move between wide-angle, standard and short telephoto perspectives without needing to change lenses. It covers the focal lengths of several popular primes, such as 24mm, 35mm and 50mm, while being just one single zoom.
The optical design consists of 14 elements in 11 groups, including one ED element, one aspherical ED element and three aspherical elements. Together, these control colour fringing, minimise distortion, and deliver consistent sharpness across the frame. A floating lens system ensures that close-up subjects are rendered with the same high level of detail as those at longer distances, maintaining image quality throughout the focus range.
Coatings also play a key role., and Nikon has used a Nano Crystal Coat to reduce flare and ghosting, while the front element carries a fluorine layer that repels dust and moisture and makes the surface easier to clean. The build is weather sealed to match the camera body, allowing this kit to be used with confidence in a variety of outdoor conditions.
The result is a zoom lens that works well with the ZR Cinema, combining versatility and reliable optical performance for video creators.
Key Features of the Nikon Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens:
- Versatility across the focal range: With a focal range of 24-70mm, this lens offers fantastic versatility – covering wide-angle, mid-range, and up to the start of the telephoto range, making it the go-to grab-and-go lens for diverse shooting needs.
- Pristine optical performance: Designed to Nikon’s highest standards, this lens suppresses aberrations across its focal and aperture ranges, providing crystal-clear images from edge to edge.
- Constant minimum focus distance: Unlike most zoom lenses, this lens delivers a minimum focus distance of 0.3m across the entire focal range, making it ideal for dynamic close-up work.
- Retained portability: When used with a compact system camera, it’s important your lens matches its portability. Thanks to a retracting mechanism that can be turned on/off without pressing a button, the total length of the lens is minimized for storage without compromising image quality.
- Robust, durable, and hardy: As well as being both dust- and drip-resistant, Nikon ensures the lens is weather-sealed, protecting it from the elements and ensuring durability in various shooting conditions.
