The Nikon Z6 III sets a new standard for professional and enthusiast photographers alike. Featuring the world's first partially-stacked CMOS sensor, this new marvel is able to deliver 3.5x faster readouts compared to its predecessor, the Z6 II. The new sensor design also unlocks greater high-speed continuous shooting with Pre-Release Capture at up to 120 fps in DX format and offers the flexibility of shooting at 60 fps in FX format with a 24 MP resolution.

Unparalleled performance and functionality

The Z6 III boasts a high-resolution EVF with 4000 cd/m² brightness and 5760k dots, providing a wide colour gamut for smooth, vivid views. This advanced viewfinder, coupled with the rapid data readout from the CMOS sensor and Nikon's EXPEED 7 processor, ensures you capture every moment with precision. During high-speed continuous shooting at 20 fps, the EVF refresh rate maintains a steady 60 fps, guaranteeing clear and seamless tracking of moving subjects.

For videographers, the Z6 III offers exceptional capabilities, including Full HD/240p for stunning 10x slow-motion video creation and the flexibility of recording in 10-bit H.265. Inherited from Nikon's top-tier Z9 and Z8 models, this camera features a similar layout and extensive customisation options, including the assignment of different AF-area modes.

Advanced autofocus and low-light performance

The Z6 III excels in autofocus performance, detecting up to 9 types of subjects and offering enhanced AF in low-light conditions down to -10 EV. With a 20% faster AF speed than the Z6 II, it provides superb tracking and focus, even in challenging backlit scenes. The superior AF performance is complemented by the newly introduced MB-N14 Power Battery Pack, ensuring the camera's reliability in extended shoots.

Durability and versatility for all conditions

Engineered to withstand extreme environments, the Z6 III is constructed with Sereebo P series carbon fibre and magnesium alloy and is sealed for protection against the elements. This robust design makes it ideal for photographers working in cold conditions, with operational capability down to -10 degrees Celsius. Enhanced heat dissipation and power efficiency allow for extended recording times, up to 125 minutes, in 4K UHD/60p (8-bit) format, making it perfect for events like weddings and concerts.

Expanded creative control and connectivity

The Z6 III offers photographers and videographers expanded creative possibilities through new features such as Flexible Color Picture Control, usable with Nikon's NX Studio software. This function allows for intuitive adjustments to light and colour, which can be saved and applied as Custom Picture Controls for real-time preview and consistent results. Furthermore, the Nikon Imaging Cloud service (to be launched later) supports new Imaging Recipes, enabling direct connection to the camera for seamless storage and sharing of images, and automatic firmware updates.

Exceptional high-sensitivity performance

The Nikon Z6 III captures stunning images in low-light conditions, with ISO capabilities up to 64000 for photos and 51200 for videos. The EXPEED 7 engine enhances noise reduction, preserving intricate textures and details. The camera's 8.0-stop in-camera Vibration Reduction (VR) and focus point VR ensures sharp images even in challenging conditions, making it ideal for indoor and nightscape photography. For video, electronic VR provides effective image stabilisation, enhancing the overall quality of your footage.

Comparing the Nikon Z6 III to the Z6 II

While the Z6 II was a formidable camera, the Z6 III takes performance to an entirely new level:

Image Sensor

The Z6 III features a 24.5MP partially-stacked CMOS sensor, significantly enhancing readout speeds compared to the conventional CMOS sensor of the Z6 II.

Processing Engine

Upgraded to the EXPEED 7 from the dual EXPEED 6 processors in the Z6 II, providing faster and more efficient processing.

Photo File Formats

The Z6 III adds HEIF support alongside JPEG and NEF (RAW), offering greater flexibility in file management.

Max Video Resolution

Improved to 6K/60P internal RAW, surpassing the 4K UHD/30P of the Z6 II.

Video Formats

The Z6 III supports advanced formats like N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ, and H.265/HEVC, in addition to the H.264/AVC found in the Z6 II.

Autofocus System

Enhanced with 299 AF points and 3D tracking, the Z6 III improves upon the 273-point system of the Z6 II, adding deep learning subject detection for nine types of subjects.

Continuous Shooting

Dramatically increased to 120 fps (JPEG) and 20 fps (RAW) from the Z6 II's 14 fps (JPEG) and 10 fps (RAW).

Max Internal Video Record Time

Extended to 125 minutes from 29 minutes and 59 seconds.

Shutter Type

The Z6 III includes a silent (electronic) mode in addition to the mechanical shutter.

Max Shutter Speed

Maintains a max shutter speed of 1/16000 sec, compared to 1/8000 sec for the Z6 II.

Image Stabilisation

Offers 5-axis built-in VR with Focus Point VR up to 8 stops, compared to the Z6 II's 5 stops.

Viewfinder

Upgraded to a 5360k-dot viewfinder with DCI-P3 gamut and 4000-nit brightness, capable of 120 fps, a significant improvement over the Z6 II's 3690k-dot viewfinder.

Display

Features a 3.2-inch, 2100k-dot vari-angle display, providing more flexibility than the Z6 II's tilting screen.
