The Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Sony Lens for E Mount lens boasts an ultra-wide and super versatile zoom range that makes it the best wide angle lens to pair with the super-popular Tamron 28-75mm. With a lightweight and robust construction, the lens is an excellent choice for landscape photographers and video shooters using gimbals and is a standout wide angle lens at this price. It’s bright f/2.8 aperture is constant through the entire 17-28mm focal range making it also a great lens for low-light shooting or astrophotography.

Versatile wide-angle zoom is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 25.5-42mm equivalent focal length range.

Bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture affords consistent brightness throughout the zoom range and offers improved control over depth of field.

XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) elements greatly reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range in order to realise improved clarity and colour accuracy.

BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating has been applied to individual elements in order to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting to achieve greater contrast and colour fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.

RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) autofocus motor delivers impressively quiet, quick, and smooth focusing performance to suit both stills and video applications. This focusing system also offers a minimum focusing distance of just 7.5" and a 1:5.2 maximum magnification for working with close-up subjects. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and it is compatible with Sony's Direct Manual Focus function or fine-tuned manual control.

A moisture-resistant construction benefits this lens' use in inclement conditions, and a fluorine coating has also been applied to the front lens element to protect against dust, dirt, and smearing.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

At the widest end of the lens the minimum focus distance is an impressive 19 cm. Take advantage of the ultra-wide field-of-view to get up close and personal with your subject and capture a unique warped perspective. Videographers will also love being able to focus so close, especially when shooting on a gimbal, which brings us the one of the best features of this lens.

Video shooters will praise how light and compact the Tamron 17-28mm is, especially when trying to balance their setup on a gimbal or Steadicam. For such a versatile lens, it's good to see that Tamron avoided compromising on quality while at the same time creating one of the most portable ultra-wide autofocus lenses on the market.
